51-year-old faces mischief charges

Chatham-Kent police have charged a middle-aged man following multiple incidents at a Chatham bank.

Police were called to a financial institution on King Street West just before noon on Tuesday for reports of a man damaging landscaping in front of the building.

According to police, debris from the damaged area was scattered across the sidewalk, creating a safety hazard for pedestrians. Officers said the man had also "disturbed public infrastructure by removing material from along the walkway."

Investigators determined that the man had also been reported for a series of incidents at the same place on May 30.

The 51-year-old faces charges of mischief under $5,000 and mischief - interfering with the operation of a property. He was taken to police headquarters and held pending bail.

Chatham man charged after ex's door broken down

A 37-year-old Chatham man has been arrested for allegedly forcing his way into his former partner's home.

CK police were called to a Chatham home just after midnight on Tuesday after the resident reported that the suspect had forced his way in and damaged the door.

The suspect was no longer at the house when police arrived, but he was found a short time later at a nearby parking lot. He was arrested without incident and taken to police headquarters.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
