Warrant/Fail to Attend Court

A 31-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was arrested after she failed to appear in court earlier this month.

A warrant was issued for her arrest after she missed the court date on June 10.

She was located by officers on James Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday and taken into custody.

Police say she is currently facing multiple charges, including two counts of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, break and enter, and two counts of failing to attend court.

She was taken to police headquarters and is being held pending a bail hearing.

Warrant/Bail Violation

A Chatham-Kent man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violating his release conditions.

Officers located the 31-year-old at the intersection of Princess Street and Colborne Street in Chatham on Thursday night.

Police said he was released by the court in May and was required to stay at his residence and adhere to a curfew, but police found him sleeping in the vestibule of an apartment building on King Street West in Chatham a few weeks later.

That put him in violation of his release conditions. Police added that efforts to find the man had been unsuccessful, as he no longer lived at his previous address.

He was transported to police headquarters, where he is being held pending a bail hearing.

Warrant/Fail to Attend Court

Failing to appear in court has landed a Chatham-Kent man in trouble.

Police say back in May, a contractor arrived at an unoccupied home on Northland Drive in Chatham and observed a man inside.

The suspect left the scene on a bicycle, with concealed items. The contractor reportedly followed him toward McNaughton Avenue.

When officers arrived they said they found the suspect attempting to hide behind a McNaughton Avenue West home. The 27-year-old was arrested and found to be in possession of several stolen items.

He was charged and released with a future court date and conditions, but a warrant was issued in June 12 after he failed to attend the scheduled court appearance.

On Thursday, police located the man on Fifth Street in Chatham and arrested him. He was taken to police headquarters, where he is being held pending a bail hearing.
