Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent police have charged a 50-year-old man with assault after he got into a verbal altercation with a security officer.

The incident happened Monday morning at an unnamed medical facility.

Police received a call about a man causing a disturbance. Police were also told that the man was not allowed at the facility, unless for a medical emergency or scheduled appointment, due to court-imposed conditions.

It's alleged the man became verbally aggressive towards a security officer, eventually making threatening gestures.

The suspect left, but officers quickly found and arrested him near the facility.

He's since been released from custody with a future court date.

Impaired Driver

A Chatham man is facing several charges after allegedly driving while impaired.

At around 6:25 p.m. on Monday, CK police received a call about a pickup truck driving erratically on St. Clair Street.

The vehicle reportedly struck several curbs and failed to stop at multiple intersections. The driver was also allegedly honking and yelling at other drivers.

Police located the suspected driver, a 49-year-old man, at a home in Chatham. He reportedly showed signs of impairment, refused to show ID, and tried to shut the door on the officers.

He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and obstructing a peace officer.

He's since been released with a future court date.
