Wallaceburg man faces robbery, theft, mischief charges
A 21-year-old Wallceburg man faces multiple charges following a string of incidents.
CK police said they were initially called to a convenience store on Grand Avenue West in Chatham for a report of theft. According to police, the suspect was caught on CCTV footage with items he'd reportedly taken from the store without paying.
Shortly after that report, officers responded to a robbery at a second business in the same area. Police were told that a man, matching the description of the man from the first incident, attempted to steal merchandise from the second location. In the second instance, investigators said that the suspect threatened another man with an object.
The suspect was arrested just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday and taken to police headquarters.
While in police custody, police said the man destroyed a camera inside his cell, causing about $1,000 worth of damage and adding a mischief charge to his list of offences.
He faces one count of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property, one count of robbery, and one count of mischief.
