Tattoos 4 SickKids is coming back to Chatham for the third time.
Participants can choose from a ‘big’ binder of flash tattoo designs and then pick a time slot.
The event, which first began in 2021, has been extended this year due to its popularity in previous years.
“I did the last two tattoos at that event, and that was at 4:30 the next morning,” said tattoo artist and organizer of the event, Neil Malcolm. “Some people waited 13 and a half hours outside to get tattooed.”
Both previous events raised over $20,000, and Malcolm is hoping this year will be no different.
“Last time that we did it two years ago, we brought $22,000 in, and it was very successful, so we're hoping to do at least that.”
The fundraiser is motivated by Malcolm's nephew, who has had at least a dozen surgeries done through SickKids.
“It's just amazing what they do up there. So we really wanted to do a fundraiser, to give back as little as we can or as much as we can,” he added.
There will be 11 different tattoo artists from far and wide who will be a part of this event. With some coming all the way from Toronto and Orillia.
Over 90 per cent of the tattoos will have a price tag of $100, and all proceeds will go to SickKids.
The fundraiser will take place at the Crow and Anchor Tattoo shop on September 27 and 28.
