Charges laid in Chatham road rage incident

A 19-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges stemming from a road rage incident.

It happened Thursday evening on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

A 21-year-old man from Thamesville told Chatham-Kent (CK) police that he had gotten into a dispute with the driver of another vehicle. He said the driver of the other vehicle rear-ended his vehicle before pulling alongside and forcing him off the road.

The man was not injured, but his vehicle was damaged.

The other driver took off before police could arrive. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) later found the vehicle and its driver at a gas station in Brigden.

He was arrested, brought back to CK, and charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, failing to remain at the scene of a crash, failing to report a crash, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He remains in police custody, awaiting a bail hearing.
