The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has received another payment from the Ontario Lottery Gaming (OLG) Corporation for hosting Cascades Casino in Chatham.
This second quarter payment totals $461,614 for hosting the casino from July-September. That's approximately $14,000 lower than the first quarter payment. OLG’s fiscal year runs from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
Chatham-Kent has received $20,479,529 since the casino opened in April 2001.
OLG said the community payments to host casinos are based on a formula in the agreement that is applied across all casinos in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“Chatham-Kent is able to offer local programs and improve the quality of life of our residents through the economic activity generated through revenue from Cascades Casino Chatham,” said Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones. “The people of Ontario benefit from OLG’s gaming revenues as 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in the province to support provincial priorities.”
The OLG noted that payments to host casinos are part of its commitment to Ontario, which includes reinvesting 100 per cent of OLG’s profits back into the province.
