The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) is reporting an increase in enrolment.
The board said it's the third consecutive year of increases.
At the elementary school level, enrolment is up by 73 students compared to September 2024.
The number of secondary students enroled with the board jumped by 193 year over year.
Since 2023, enrolment at the SCCDSB has gone up by 423 students in the elementary panel and by 440 secondary students.
“This is a welcome trend, following the many years of declining enrolment during the late 1990s and early 2000s,” said Amy Park, Associate Director – Corporate Services and Treasurer. “After stabilizing for a number of years in about 2016, we’re now seeing growth, which is a sign of a healthy system.”
The school board said enrolment numbers to typically fluctuate throughout the school year, and these latest statistics are a snapshot in time.
Enrolment numbers are reported to the Ministry of Education on October 31 and March 31 each year.
