The infamous grandparent scam is once again targeting seniors in Chatham-Kent (CK).
According to Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers, several complaints have been made over the past week about seniors being targeted by fraudsters.
It's reported that victims are being told that their grandchild is in distress and needs urgent help. The scammers are then asking for money via a wire transfer, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.
This exact scam also targeted CK seniors earlier this year.
Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is reminding people never to send money until they can verify the story and not to share personal information with unknown callers.
Anyone with information on this scam or any other crime is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
