Early Saturday morning, fire crews from both Station #1 and Station #2 responded to a residence on Gray Street.
CK Fire Investigators were also on the scene to assess the situation.
The cause of the fire has not been identified, and no injuries have been reported.
The driver's license was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
The site is 4.6 hectares and is close to major transportation corridors, residential areas, and natural amenities.
Another periodic deer cull will take place next week at Point Pelee National Park.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were defeated by the Boston Bruins.
"Municipal drains play a vital role in supporting our local agriculture and protecting private property," said Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy.
Crews are ready to move on to the next phase of demolition at the former LDSS.
