Walpole Island police investigating fatal crash

Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision on Walpole Island First Nation.

First responders, including the Walpole Island Police Service (WIPS), Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Walpole Island Fire Department (WIFD), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), were called to Tecumseh Road shortly after 10 p.m. on January 20, for reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

According to police, the victim, a 29-year-old from Walpole Island First Nation, was taken to hospital following the collision, but was later pronounced dead.

Tecumseh Road was closed while police investigated, but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
