The organizer of one of Chatham's flag football leagues is looking to join Chatham-Kent's (CK) next municipal council.
Jason Reynolds is looking to be one of two councillors for Ward 7, representing the northeast part of Chatham.
He told CK News Today he decided to run after being inspired by all the new candidates who put their names forward.
"I've noticed a significant change in the people who want to be involved in the change in our city and the people who want to make an impact, a difference, make a better Chatham for all of us," said Reynolds.
If elected, his biggest priority would be combatting the drug and homelessness crisis.
"We have to hit it head-on to kind of clean things up, helping the people get the help they need, putting them in a better place to be successful," added Reynolds.
Despite lacking political experience, Reynolds believes he's the right person for the job. This is because he lives and breathes the area.
"I was born in Ward 7, and I've lived in Ward 7 my whole life. The kids' league that I run in football is in Ward 7. Ward 7 has my whole heart," added Reynolds.
CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
