One-in-30 million lobster discovered at Chatham Superstore

A once-in-a-lifetime sight is on display at Chatham's Real Canadian Superstore.

The store's seafood department is currently home to an orange lobster. Most lobsters are greenish-brown, with the chances of encountering an orange one being around one-in-30 million.

It didn't take long for staff to realize just how rare their new friend was, as a sign is now up telling customers that it's not for sale.

Sylvia Smith, an employee at the Superstore, told CK News Today she can't get over how rare the lobster really is.

"In my 40 years, that's the first time I've seen an orange lobster, and I watch all the lobster shows and everything," she laughed.

The staff is currently trying to find a home for the lobster.

If Smith had her way, she would bring it home.

"I was going to buy him and put him in my aquarium just to save him. I don't want him to get eaten," she said.

One employee has even reached out to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada to see if they would be interested.
