Kennington Excited Racing's Growth

NASCAR driver DJ Kennington would like to see more drivers come out of southwestern Ontario.

The St. Thomas native runs full-time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series, and says there are only a few young guns.

"I'd love to see more from this area but it's the same old thing. It's hard for people to get sponsorships and it's hard for people to get recognized and noticed," says Kennington "Let's just hope it doesn't keep growing cause I love this sport and hopefully we can be an owner here soon and maybe have a young gun in the car driving for me."

DJ Kennington has also run in the NASCAR Nationwide and Truck Series in the U.S. as well as the Can-Am Pro Series.

"It's like any other sport, it costs a lot of money to do it," says Kennington. "Without sponsor and backing from people that back you with what you do, you couldn't do this sport. That's the hardest part of the game, trying to get the money and the means to do it."
