Lions Host Broncos In Sunday Night Football

The Detroit Lions will look to avoid going 0-3 to start the season when they host the Denver Broncos in the nationally televised Sunday night game.

Lions head coach Jim Caldwell knows his defense will be tested by Broncos QB Peyton Manning, which he says does so many things so well it's impossible to list them all.

"His ability to grasp information, his attention to detail, how he works in terms of his practice regiment, you name it," says Caldwell. "I mean his preparation in terms of meetings, you know that's why he'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer, that's why he's shattered almost every passing record there is, I mean the guy is a bit unusual."

Caldwell is familiar with Manning, having coached him when they were both with the Indianapolis Colts.

Tonight's game is also the Lions home opener after playing their first two games on the road in San Diego and Minnesota.

Kick-off at what's expected to be a noisy Ford Field is set for 8:30pm.
