Spitfires Getting More Help In Net

The Spitfires are adding goaltending depth, with the signing of veteran Garrett Hughson.

The 20-year-old Alberta-native, who played parts of four seasons with the WHL's Spokane Chiefs, was claimed off CHL waivers by the Niagara IceDogs earlier this week. The Spits have since sent their 15th round pick in 2017 to Niagara for his rights.

Windsor General Manager Warren Rychel says, "We felt it was important to add another veteran piece, since (Michael) DiPietro will be away at the end of the month for a few weeks (at the World Under-17 Championship)."

In 53 appearances last season, Hughson posted 23 wins with a 2.80 goals against average and .902 save percentage.
