It's first vs. worst as the Essex 73's host the Wallaceburg Lakers.
The 73's haven't lost since November 14 of last year while the Lakers haven't won a game since November 6, 2015. Wallaceburg head coach Derek Ellis knows his team is in tough tonight.
"I'm just so respectful of the players that are there that are working hard and coming to practice every day," says Ellis. "We're building for next year and they know that and they're committed to it -- I can't say anything but good stuff about them."
The Essex 73's are expected to have three new players in their lineup. Brendan McGhee, Dalton Langlois, and Griffin McCarty were all recently signed by the team as they gear up for a championship run. McCarty's father is Leamington native and former Detroit Red Wings forward Darren McCarty.
Puck drop is set for 7pm at the Essex Centre Sports Complex.
