Both teams scored once in the first period, but Ayr took a big 4-1 lead in the second period. The 73's tried to battle back in the final frame, but couldn't catch up before the buzzer.
Brett Vorshuk led Essex with two goals, while William Stadder and Max Viselli had one each.
The Centennials now lead the semifinal series 2-0.
Both teams return to the ice for Game 3 on Friday at 7:30pm.
Hospitals in southwestern Ontario are feeling the effects of underfunding, according to a new report by the CCPA.
