Sports Briefs - October 11, 2016

The Toronto Blue Jays will face Cleveland Indians in the A-L Championship Series. Cleveland completed a three-game sweep with a 4-3 win over the Red Sox in Boston. The Indians will host the Blue Jays to open the ALCS at 8:08pm on Friday night.

Meanwhile -- the San Francisco Giants staved off elimination, outlasting the Chicago Cubs 6-5 in 13 innings. Chicago leads the series 2-1.

In the other NL Division Series, the Washington Nationals beat the LA Dodgers 8-3 to take a 2-1 series lead. The Nationals can clinch the series tonight in Game 4 at Dodger Stadium.

Cole Butler had two goals and an assist to lead the Wheatley Sharks to a 7-2 victory over the Dresden Kings in Junior C hockey.

In Monday Night Football -- Roberto Aguayo kicked a 38-yard field goal as time expired as the Buccaneers defeated the Panthers 17-14.

Aguayo had missed two field goals earlier in the game.

In the CFL action -- Calgary hammered the Toronto Argonauts 48-20 to clinch the West Division title -- and Edmonton beat the Montreal Alouettes 48-20.
