The Chicago Cubs are one win away from their first World Series appearance in 71 years.

Jon Lester pitched seven solid innings as the Cubs downed the LA Dodgers 8-4 to take a 3-2 lead in the NLCS.

Game 6 will take place Saturday night in Chicago.

In the NHL -- Auston Matthews scored his fifth goal of the season, but the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to Minnesota 3-2.

Elsewhere -- the Vancouver Canucks topped the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 -- the Montreal Canadiens beat Arizona 5-2 -- the Calgary Flames dropped a 4-2 decision to Carolina -- and the Edmonton Oilers beat St. Louis 3-1.
