Sports Briefs - November 4, 2016

Chatham-Kent native Travis Konecny scored on his own rebound to open the scoring as the Philadelphia Flyers got by the Islanders 3-2 in a shootout. That goal was Konecny's second of the season -- he's tied for fourth in rookie scoring with eight points (two goals, six assists).

Meanwhile -- Mitch Marner scored two goals and Frederik Andersen made 42 saves as the Toronto Maple Leafs topped the Sabres 2-1 in Buffalo.

The Ottawa Senators shutout the Vancouver Canucks 1-0 -- the Calgary Flames beat the Sharks in San Jose 3-2 -- Washington edged the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in overtime -- and the Edmonton Oilers dropped a 5-3 decision to the Rangers.

In Junior C hockey -- the Wallaceburg Lakers dropped their fifth straight, falling 5-4 in overtime to Petrolia.

In Junior B action -- the LaSalle Vipers beat the Leamington Flyers 4-1 -- that win, along with London's 6-4 loss to Sarnia, moves the Vipers into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference.

In the OHL -- the Windsor Spitfires doubled up Saginaw 4-2 -- and the London Knights blanked North Bay 7-0.

Matt Ryan threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Atlanta Falcons to a 43-28 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL's Thursday Night game.
