Cole Butler scored the game winner for Wheatley in OT, and Carter Mastronardi scored the team's other goal during regular play.
Adam Gaiarin scored the only goal for Essex.
The 73's are back home on Tuesday to take on the Amherstburg Admirals at 7pm. And then on Wednesday, the Sharks head to Wallaceburg to battle the Lakers at 7:30pm.
Hospitals in southwestern Ontario are feeling the effects of underfunding, according to a new report by the CCPA.
