The reigning MVP for the Fanshawe Falcons' softball team is coming back for another season, but in a different capacity.
Chatham's Marandee Hunter has been named the team's next Trainer Manager. She's taking the role to stay with the Falcons, as her Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) eligibility has expired.
"It's really unfortunate. I loved all four years I was (playing)," said Hunter.
In those four years, Hunter posted a .364 batting average, with four home runs and 72 Runs Batted In (RBIs). She also collected 13 triples, good enough for the second-most in Falcons' franchise history.
Near the end of her final season, Hunter was approached by the team's management, who asked if she would want to be the Trainer Manager. She said she jumped at the opportunity.
"I was ecstatic when they offered me the job," she added.
Hunter explained she'll be responsible for making sure all the players stay healthy. Her job will also allow her to travel with the team, something she's noted she's very grateful for.
