London police are investigating another playground arson in the Westmount area.
Officers and fire crews were called to St. Jude's Separate School this morning for the second time in as many months.
There is only minor damage and no suspect description has been released.
"It will cost several thousand dollars to repair, "It's difficult because we have to repair it in a timely fashion and it costs a lot of money," says Duane Hiemstra, the maintenance supervisor at the London District Catholic School Board. "Parents have donated money to have this ... We can't stop putting up equipment just because people damage it."
This is the fourth incident in the area.
Police were called to Jesse Davidson Park on August 5 for the same type of crime, although damage in that fire was worse.
On July 12, playground equipment in the green space behind Arthur Ford Public School was destroyed when it was set alight by vandals. Police are still investigating that arson.
On July 31, a smaller fire caused about $1,000 in damage to the same playground equipment at St. Jude Catholic School on Viscount Rd. A rope climber and a slide were damaged.
Police believe all of the incidents are related.
Investigators hope the photos below of the tools used can help identify a suspect.
