A London native who found fame in stand-up comedy before becoming a household name by hosting a popular daytime talk show is looking to help out her hometown.
Jenny Jones has promised to provide $100,000 for a worthwhile project that would benefit her hometown.
The Hometown Hero project is soliciting submissions from Londoners who have ideas about how to make the community better. Jones says she will pick the best submission and provide funding to bring the idea to fruition.
There are some guidelines that have to be followed. People making submissions must be a Canadian citizen and a current London resident who has lived here for at least five years. The funding, which will come from Jones' foundation, will not go to the person who makes the submission, but rather, directly toward the project.
Jones also asks that ideas be fully researched before being submitted in order to include a realistic cost projection. The person whose idea is chosen may also be expected to help coordinate or participate in the project.

The deadline for suggestions is September 15 with the winning submission made public by October 15.
