Eight Arrested at Huge Marijuana Grow-op in North Huron

A multi-million dollar marijuana grow-op has been shut down in North Huron, and eight suspects have been arrested.

OPP officers from several units and detachments executed a search warrant at a residence on Marnoch Line in North Huron last Thursday.   They found a sophisticated marijuana-growing operation.

Police seized plants and processed marijuana that had a combinated street value of over 2.2 million dollars. They also seized trafficking paraphernalia and cash with an estimated value of $2,000.

A total of eight people were arrested on the property and have been held in custody for bail hearings today in Goderich court.

The three men and five women, who range in age from 33 to 68, are charged with Production of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana for the Purposes of Trafficking.   Some have North Huron addresses, while others are from Port Hope, Markham, Scarborough, and Rhode Island, U.S.A.

Those charged are:

Rong Qing HUANG, 49 years of age from Scarborough Xinguo LI, 33 years of age from Port Hope Rui Liang ZHOU, 48 years of age from Markham Yueying HUANG, 58 years of age from Rhode Island, USA Qiu Lan LIU, 66 years of age from North Huron Hong Ting TAO, 55 years of age from North Huron Chen Meh LIN, 68 years of age from North Huron Mia Hua SHU, 58 years of age from North Huron
