Poll Shows Dead Heat In London West

According to a new poll, the riding of London West appears to be a toss-up between the Conservative incumbent and the Liberal challenger.

The poll done by Environics for The National Observer suggests the race in London West is too tight to call, with Ed Holder (CPC) and Kate Young (LPC) in a statistical tie.

The firm polled 1,132 eligible voters in London West last weekend, asking them who they would vote for if the election was today. The respondents were also asked who they were leaning toward if they were undecided.

The poll's results showed 34% support for Holder, 33% support for Young, 19% support for NDP candidate Matthew Rowlinson, and 5% support for Dimitri Lascaris of the Green Party. Undecided voters made up 8% of respondents.

Among decided voters, support for Holder was at 38%, 37% picked Young, Rowlinson has the support of 20%, and 5% plan to vote for Lascaris.

The poll is considered accurate to within plus or minus 2.9%, 19 times out of 20.

Holder has been criticized by his opponents for not attending some debates. Campaign officials have defended him, saying he confirmed attendance at five debates during the campaign.

Holder did not attend the BlackburnNews.com London West debate.
