Poppy Donations Stolen In Simcoe

Provincial police in Norfolk County are looking for a suspect after a poppy donation box was stolen in Simcoe.

Police were called on Wednesday by the Royal Canadian Legion branch 79 after a poppy donation box was stolen from the counter of its bar area. Police say the thief took the box to the men's washroom and removed the money.

"Our veterans have played such an integral role in Canadian history and society, and this act of theft is very disturbing," says Constable Ed Sanchuk of the Norfolk detachment of the OPP. "If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122."

The investigation is continuing.
