Another Arrest Made In Bank Robberies

A London man is facing a long list of charges in connection with two bank robberies in the city.

Adam Searay, 24, was arrested last Thursday and faces allegations that he took part in armed robberies at two ScotiaBank branches.

On Friday, September 18 four people held up the ScotiaBank at 950 Hamilton Rd. A few weeks later, police announced they had arrested and charged three suspects, as well as a woman. At the time, they said one suspect had yet to be identified.

On Thursday, November 12, a man robbed the ScotiaBank at 639 Southdale Rd. East, before getting away with another man in a stolen pickup truck. One man was later arrested.

Police announced Tuesday morning that Searay had been arrested in connection with both robberies. He's charged with:

  • Seven counts of armed robbery, contrary to section 343(d);\
  • Two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, contrary to section 465(1)(c)
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)
  • Occupy motor vehicle with firearm, contrary to section 94(1)
  • Use of a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, contrary to section85(1)(a)
  • Uttering threats, contrary to section 2564.1(1)(a)
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, contrary to section 86(1)
  • Possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm, 95(1)
  • Possession of firearm while prohibited, contrary to section 117.01(1)
  • Two counts of disguise with intent, contrary to section 351(2)
  • Use of imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, contrary to 85(2)(a)
Searay is in custody with a court date scheduled for Thursday,  December 10.
