Wheels Fly Off Van On Hwy. 401

For the second time in two months there has been incident of wheels coming off a truck on Hwy. 401 near London.

But luckily, this time there were no casualties.

Middlesex OPP say a cargo van was heading west on the highway near Elgin Rd. last Wednesday when the left, rear dual wheels separated from the vehicle.

One wheel came to rest by the median while the second rolled into the ditch.

Fortunately, the wheels did not hit any vehicles on the busy highway. The driver of the van was able to pull over to the shoulder without incident.

The Ministry of Transportation is investigating.

A Southwest Oxford Township woman was killed on Highway 401, near Putnam Rd. on November 6 when a wheel came off of an eastbound tractor trailer, jumped the median and hit her westbound vehicle.
