A joyride that tore up an elementary school sports field outside of St. Marys has police searching for a suspect.
Perth OPP say sometime between Saturday and Sunday a pickup truck was driven onto the grass field on the north-west side of South Perth Centennial Elementary School.
The truck was driven around in tight circles leaving deep ruts in the field. Police believe at some point the donut-like manoeuvres caused the driver to lose control of the truck, which then hit an object or partially rolled.
A front bumper, tailgate, mud flap, and a number of other pieces of the truck were found at the scene.
Police are looking for a rusted, older model, gold GMC pickup truck. Police say the vehicle may have been deemed "unfit" for road use and could be used for farm work.
It is possible the truck used a driveway located behind the school to access the field.
In the past few years, police have been called to the school for similar acts of vandalism.
Anyone with information about the vehicle or those responsible for this incident is asked to call police at -888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
