Driving is expected to become very difficult in the London area on Wednesday night.
Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for London, as well as Middlesex, Oxford, Huron, and Perth Counties. Forecasters are calling for a "significant freezing rain event."
Environment Canada says a cold front moving into the region Wednesday morning will stall over the area and a "Colorado low" will track northeast along the line of that front. Precipitation from that low system will arrive as rain or snow mixed with ice pellets.
As the cold air continues to move in from the northeast, dropping the temperature to zero or below this evening, a band of freezing rain is expected to develop. The freezing rain is expected to last into Thursday, with amounts of 5-15 mm possible. Forecasters say the freezing rain is likely to slowly change to rain Thursday morning.
