Police Search For Weapons Suspect

Residents of a section of north London were told to stay in their homes on Tuesday as police looked for a suspect who may have been armed.

Emergency Response officers, along with the K-9 Unit, flooded the area near Windermere Rd. and Richmond St. after a man ran away from the scene of a vehicle stop at Richmond and Sunnyside Dr.

Constable Sandasha Bough says the search began around noon.

"It was one of our officers who radioed in that a male had fled a vehicle and was possibly armed," Bough says.

Police say there was a foot chase and the area was contained by officers, who found a loaded .357 firearm.

The suspect has been identified as Dean Dickieson, 23, of London. He is wanted for several firearms-related offences. He's described as a white male, about 5'7" with a shaved head. He was wearing a leather jacket and blue jeans. He is still at large.

Police arrested a woman at the scene, although she has not been charged.

Officers cleared the scene around 2:30pm. Police are asking anyone with any information about Dickieson's whereabouts to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
