Western Identifies Student In Domestic Homicide

Western University has identified one of its students as one of two people killed in a homicide in Richmond Hill.

York Regional police say on Thursday around 11am, a man and woman were found dead in a home at Dunvegan Dr. in Richmond Hill. The two suffered obvious signs of trauma and the incident is believed to be a domestic-related homicide. Police are not looking for any suspects.

Police have identified the victims as 52-year-old Karen Costa and 22-year-old Jeffrey Costa. Both are from the Town of Richmond Hill. A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday.

Western University made a statement on Friday, identifying Jeffery as a student. The university says Jeffery was "a Soph in both Medway-Sydenham Hall and Social Science and was well-known by many on campus."

Western has set up grief support for those in the community requiring counselling.

The Community Room in the University Community Centre (UCC 269) will be open for students, faculty and staff from 6pm-8pm on Friday, and 2pm-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
