London police say charges have been laid in connection with two separate incidents involving knives, including a stabbing in the east end.
Police say a dispute between two men at an apartment on Huron St., near Highbury Ave. around 2:15pm Thursday quickly escalated with one man being stabbed several times.
The man was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Nham Thavinh Khamphila, 65, is charged with aggravated assault.
Roughly 15 minutes later, police were called to the area of Richmond St. at Dundas St. where a man armed with a knife was chasing another man.
Police say the two men had been involved in a heated argument before one of the men pulled a knife.
Abolamir Taki, 58, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Constable Sandasha Bough says without the quick thinking of witnesses someone could have been seriously hurt.
"A number of people were witness to this and called 9-1-1 as a result of what they observed," says Bough. "Everybody involved in this particular incident should be commended for their actions."
