As wildfires spread and ravage Fort McMurray, Alberta, many have started asking how they can help.
The Red Cross has is appealing to the public for monetary donations through text, over the phone and online, after 80,000 people were forced to flee their homes..
The fires have already torched around 1,600 houses and other buildings in Fort McMurray. A state of emergency was declared on Wednesday.
The government of Alberta has announced that it will match donations to the Red Cross in support of the people of Fort McMurray, and will provide $2-million in seed money to kickstart operations.
Anyone who would like to donate to help those affected by the wildfires can call 1-800-418-1111 or text REDCROSS to 30333 to make a $5 donation. Those looking to make donations online can do so by clicking HERE.
