London continues to make a big name for itself in the Canadian country music world.
Tourism London announced Tuesday the city has been selected to host the 2017 Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAO) Awards.
The announcement comes a little over a week before London plays host to the 2016 Canadian Country Music Week and CCMA Awards.
“We are excited to work with the CMAO to enhance existing programming for Ontario artists and fans alike and look forward to working together to further grow and develop opportunities for Ontario's country music industry," says Chris Campbell, Director of Culture and Entertainment Tourism, Tourism London. "Working to grow an event like this further enhances London as a music and entertainment destination."
When the 5th annual CMAO Awards come to London June 11, it will be the first time in its history that the award ceremony has been held outside of the Toronto area.
Canadian country music superstar Jason McCoy will host the awards at Centennial Hall. The full line-up of performers and award nominees will be announced in April.
The official CMAO kickoff will be held on June 9 and the R2I TuneUp Conference, a networking opportunity for aspiring and established artists and industry professionals, will be held June 10-11 at the Delta London Armouries.
Tickets for the awards go on sale at 11am September 13 through the Centennial Hall Box Office.
