With the return of Western and Fanshawe students, London police have launched another edition of Project L.E.A.R.N.
Once again this year, there will be extra patrols in areas around both schools as well as in the downtown core. Officers will be watching for rowdy parties, parking violations, open liquor in public areas, litter, and public urination.
"The members of the London Police Service, Western's University Students' Council, and Fanshawe Student Union are encouraging that while fun is being had, that it is done responsibly," police say in a news release. "We simply ask that you obey the laws designed to ensure enjoyment for all citizens."
Last year, police laid 23 criminal charges in the Western University and Fanshawe College neighbourhoods. Only five of the accused were students.
Police handed out 791 provincial offence notices, 499 of which were given to students.
Project L.E.A.R.N. runs until September 30.
