Concerns about possible Salmonella contamination have led to a recall of a product sold at the Cherryhill Village Mall location of the Bulk Barrel.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall, saying the No Sugar Added Almond Butter Crunch was sold in bulk between September 2 and September 7.
It says the move stemmed from a recall in another country. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which it says may lead to the recall of other products.
No illnesses related to consumption of the product have been reported.
According to a statement on the CFIA's website, "Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis."
