Dozens Of Charges Laid After High Speed Chase

A 26-year-old Haldimand man and a 15-year-old boy are facing a combined 54 charges after a crime spree and police chase that injured four OPP officers southwest of London.

Police say the incident began when officered tried to pull a white pickup truck over on Southdel Bourne around 6pm on Friday. The truck, which had been reported stolen, did not stop for police and was last seen leaving Hwy. 401 near Shedden.

The truck was abandoned in Shedden where a home was broken into and the keys to a blue pickup truck stolen, according to police.

The blue truck was quickly located on Talbot Line but did not stop for officers, instead crashing into two police cruisers on Mill Rd. Continuing onto Longhurst line, the blue truck hit another two cruisers before the truck was abandoned.

At this point, police say a passing motorists was then flagged down. The driver and passenger were assaulted by two suspects trying, unsuccessfully , to steal the vehicle. The suspects were found shortly after in a ditch.

The four police officers injured in the collisions were treated and released from hospital.

Police say they found two long guns in the white pickup.

Gary Green, 26, from Haldimand County, is charged with a total of 40 offences, including:

  • Two counts - robbery with intent
  • One count - flight while pursued by peace officer
  • One count - dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Two counts - possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • One count - theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle
  • Six counts - assault with a weapon
  • Three counts - assault cause bodily harm
  • One count - assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Two counts - unauthorized possession of weapon
  • One count - break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Eleven counts - fail to comply with recognizance
  • Five counts - driving while disqualified
  • One count - mischief under $5000
  • One count - possession of break in instruments
  • One count - possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • One count - possession of schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30g
A 15-year-old male, from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, is facing a total of 14 charges, including:
  • Two counts - robbery with intent
  • One count - disguise with intent
  • One count - flight while pursued by peace officer
  • Two counts - possession property obtained by crime over $5000
  • One count - theft over of a motor vehicle
  • One count - break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Two counts - unauthorized possession of weapon
  • One count - possession break in instruments
  • One count - assault with a weapon
  • One count - possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • One count - possession of schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana – under 30g
The 15-year-old cannot be named due to his age.

The man and boy are being held in custody and are scheduled to make a court appearance in St. Thomas.
