A drug bust in downtown St. Thomas netted police $85,000 worth of marijuana, marijuana edibles, and magic mushrooms.
St. Thomas police raided a home in the core of the city on Monday. Inside, police say they found a setup of ovens, presses and packaging tools. A large quantity of shatter, marijuana, magic mushrooms, and prepackaged edible by-products were seized.
Shatter is a highly potent marijuana derivative with a glass-like appearance that looks like toffee. Police warn the production of this drug is very dangerous as butane, which is highly combustible, is used to extract the drug from marijuana plants.
A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from St. Thomas, are charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and production of a controlled substance.
The pair were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
