City Will Collect Christmas Trees At The Curb

Londoners won't have to load their Christmas trees into vehicles to dispose of them after the big day. Instead they can just drag them to the curb.

A new home pick-up was announced by the city as it moves away from its traditional temporary Christmas tree recycling depots. Now Londoners can just leave their old tree at the curb for collection on a designated Saturday in January.

Residents in zones C, D, and E will have their trees collected on January 7, while those in zones A, B, and F will see pick-up on January 14. The city recommends anyone who misses their Saturday pick-up place the tree in their backyard until the spring yard material day or drop it off at the Community EnviroDepot.

City officials ask all decorations, tinsel and lights be removed from trees and that they be placed at the curb by 7am on the morning of pickup. Trees in plastic bags will not be collected.

All trees collected will be chipped and composted.
