Nine Londoners are being recognized in the 2017 Mayor's New Year’s Honour List.
The names of the recipients had been released Sunday morning, kicking off the new year.
London Mayor Matt Brown congratulated the recipients in a press release saying, "Your significant contributions are all examples of us working together to build a better city for all.”
Each year London residents are nominated for a specific category. The City of London’s Advisory Committees then selects the winners based off of certain criteria.
The 2017 recipients are:
- Susan Grindrod (Housing)
- Dale Yoshida (Arts)
- Therese Quigley (Sports)
- Andrew Rosser (Humanitarianism)
- Brenda Ryan (Persons with a Disability)
- Mojdeh Cox (Diversity and Race Relations)
- Joseph Cummins (Environment)
- Danielle Mooder (Safety and Crime Prevention)
- Sandra Miller (Heritage)
