Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been called to St. Thomas after a man was injured during an arrest by St. Thomas police.
According to the SIU, St. Thomas police officers were called to a home in the area of Talbot St. and First Ave. in the early morning hours of Friday, January 20 to deal with a 19-year-old man.
"While officers attempted to apprehend the man, there was an interaction between the man and the officers," said SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon. "The man was transported to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury."
Hudon says two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
No other details about the incident have been released. St. Thomas police have referred all questions to the SIU.
