After holding steady for three straight months, the London-St. Thomas unemployment rate took a sharp turn downwards in February.
According to Statistics Canada, the local jobless rate was 6.2% last month.
It was 6.9% in January, December, and November.
Nationally, the jobless rate fell to its lowest level in about two years. The Canadian economy added 15,300 jobs in February, sending the unemployment rate to 6.6%, down from 6.8% in January.
Statistics Canada says most of the gains were in full-time work.
Ontario's unemployment rate also fell. It was 6.2% in February, down from 6.4% in January.
