Three Charged After Man Run Over By Skid Steer

Three Thames Centre men are facing criminal charges following the death of a man who was run over by a stolen skid steer.

Middlesex OPP say a 21-year-old man was at a gathering at a home in Dorchester when he was run over by the small piece of construction equipment shortly after midnight on Sunday. The man, identified as Riley Shannon of Ingersoll, was rushed to hospital were he was pronounced dead.

The OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and Forensic Identification Unit were called to the scene to help with the investigation.

Trent Weller, 19, and 18-year-olds Ryan Esler and Adam Sinden are charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident involving bodily harm or death, and theft over $5,000.

The three men were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Monday.

Middlesex County victim services members have been called in to offer support to family and friends of Shannon.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and are asking anyone with information to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
