Convention Centre Delivers $17.6M In Economic Impact

Visitors to the London Convention Centre brought over $17-million worth of economic activity to London.

Ontario's Tourism Regional Economic Impact Model shows the economic impact of the convention centre was $17,660,482 in 2016. The model takes into consideration the estimated $306 spent daily by convention delegates on accommodations, transportation, food, beverages, and shopping.

The convention centre hosted 274 events last year, producing an estimated 117,361 "delegate days." Despite undergoing a main floor renovation that was finished in August, it still managed a 59% utilization rate, which included bookings for the Canadian Country Music Association Conference and the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness Conference.

“Our $5 million investment created an exceptional product that is competitive with any other meeting facility in Ontario”, says Lori Da Silva, London Convention Centre CEO and general manager.

It's estimated the convention centre has contributed over $159-million in economic impact for London since 2008.
