A London man is facing a murder charge after a cab driver was beaten to death.
Police say 23-year-old Cody Perkin has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 64-year-old Vijay Bhatia of London early Saturday morning.
Officers were called around 1am concerning an assault at a Mac’s Milk parking lot on Wonderland Rd. S. They found the driver with no vital signs. He was taken to London Health Sciences Center where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Bhatia o picked up two people in his taxi and drove them to the location, where one of the passengers proceeded to assault him. The second passenger has been questioned by police and released without charges.
Perkin is also charged with one count of assault and one count of uttering threats in relation to a separate victim, whose injuries did not require medical treatment.
The Major Crime Section is currently investigating.
