While the summer break has barely begun, London Knights fans already have reason to be excited for the 2017-2018 season.
Officials with the Knights announced on Monday the team will host the defending Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires in their home opener September 22 at Budweiser Gardens.
It will be the first time meeting between the two teams since the Knights defeated the Spitfires in a nail biting Game 7 in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in April. While the Knights were knocked out of the playoffs during the second round, the Spitfires went on to win the Memorial Cup in their hometown, beating the Erie Otters in the championship game.
A day after their home opener, the Knights will travel to Saginaw to play the Spirit.
The Knights' full 2017-2018 regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday.
