A London police officer has been placed on administrative duties after being charged with assault.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the London Police Service says it "received information about the conduct of one of it's (sic) officers" on May 26, 2017.
An investigation was launched and on Tuesday, Sergeant Peter Paquette was charged with one count of assault.
Police say the charge relates to an incident that occurred on September 6, 2016 at London Police Service Headquarters.
Paquette will appear in court on August 2.
Because the matter is now before the courts, police say they will not be releasing any additional information.
